The Sharing Place
Hey everyone, I hope you are enjoying our blog so far! We have been able to make something amazing happen! We were just able to talk to The Sharing Place In Orilla about a hopeful collaboration for a food drive at our school! Now with that information, I’m sure you are wondering a few questions, which I will explain below with a quick summary of the question and our response.
Now what is the sharing place? The sharing place is a food bank in Oreilla that uses the community to help people with food insecurity. They help out those in the community by providing food security. This is great since that is what a food bank is meant to do, help those in a community struggling with food insecurity by offering a way for them to access healthy food.
Why do we want to help out? We want to help out communities around us, more specifically Indigenous communities. Now yes we realize that this food bank isn’t only for indigenous individuals but for an entire community, but we have also noticed that the Chippewas of Rama First Nation reserve is only around 15-20 minutes away from the food bank by car. This means that by helping out this community we will also help out the Chippewas of Rama First Nation.
And finally, how are we planning to help out? We would like to hold a food drive for this food bank. Now we need to still get full confirmation to do so but we are hoping it will be all right so we can help out the community by helping to provide healthy food security. So we will keep you updated about that.
So that's a quick update of what we have been up to lately. We have been running into a few bumps in the road (such as a fundraiser for True North Aid that has been temporarily disabled for now), but we are still hoping to connect with indigenous individuals and communities to help out in any way that we can. If you are interested in collaborating with us as an organization interested in the same cause as us then you can contact us on any of our social media accounts (which I will write below for you)
That's it for this entry, Thank you for reading,
